Old leaves
covering the grass
forming a protective mulch
even as they decay,
shielding the moisture
from the harsh sun,
provide nutrition to the soil
and the seeds
waiting to sprout.
The old is not useless
to be discarded and dumped
it needs to be allowed
to nurture and to feed
even as it moves on
to another world.
Ganoba,
a decaying leaf
