Healing

Suffering is a negative judgment about an experience. As long as we hold this judgment, the necessary learning cannot take place. Complete healing would take place only when the lesson is learnt in its wholeness. For this to happen, we have to immerse ourselves fully in the experience. To let this happen, we have to bring into play the ability to bear pain, physical and emotional.
In our pursuit of happiness we have neglected this quality in us. In Indian languages there two words for this quality; sahanshakti and sahansheelata. Both shakti and sheel are needed to immerse oneself fully in an experience. Without shakti, sheel is vulnerable and without sheel, shakti is likely to be misused. These are the qualities of the divine couple Shiva and Parvati. They are inseparable and have to be worshiped together.
The English equivalent would be to develop both competence and compassion together and to use them together.
