Knowing God

Human beings find it difficult to comprehend that which is outside their circle (or whatever geometrical figure ) of known. They try to understand by drawing parallels with the known. In the process they create a lot of useless knowledge and stay away from wisdom.
Take God for instance. God is nothingness. Which means it cannot be described as comparable to anything that we know. God has no name or form. God is neither male nor female. But God being the creator of the universe, can take any form or name. This is too much for us, so we freely give names and forms to God according to our fancy. Then we get stuck to these names and forms. that is where the trouble starts.
Vishnu is just an arbitrary name for God, the creator, who is continuously creating. this means birth, middle and death are taking place all the time. We have separated these three and assigned them to three deities. this is all right to create wonderful stories for children and works of art for adults. But in themselves non of these adds to our understanding of creation and our place (role) in it.
God's work, if it can be called so, needs no effort. so it is like dreaming. There is no time gap between conception and execution. Everything is happening at the same time, simultaneously, spontaneously, effortlessly, joyously.
How do we describe all this without any reference to that which we know or claim to know?
I have no answer to that. so many times I remain silent. Sometimes I attempt to describe it and then I have to either defend my foolishness or laugh at it. I tend to do the first more often. I am learning to laugh at it now.
yours foolishly
Ganoba
